Election Themed Movies

election-dayI don’t know about you but I’m stocking up on junk food and chocolate for election night and staying up to watch the results. That doesn’t mean that we can’t have some fun and let off some steam with a few of our favorite election themed movies. Hold a marathon for your teens, young adults, or older patrons before the weekend is out or after the election is over!

For fun, serve red and blue themed food, like strawberries and blueberries on sticks with marshmallows or bananas, red and blue jello with whipped cream, or even a red and blue themed dessert pizza.

THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT (1995) : Sparks fly when a widowed president (Michael Douglas) starts to fall in love with a lobbyist (Annette Benning), and then rumours abound once their relationship is found out as he seeks re-election.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE (2004): Your teens quote this and they don’t even know it; give them the background for their cultural references. Napoleon decides to help his new friend win the class presidency by demonstrating his “skills”.
