And now, our Monday announcements.
First, because it’s Monday and we all need encouragement this week,
whether it’s dealing with all the kids out of school or dealing with family or holiday rituals:
Second, because there’s ONE DAY LEFT to enter the
the Genrequeer Giveaway- if you missed it, click through to here.
Third, Katelyn Browne and I are launching a tumblr blog that came out of the Genrequeer
presentation officially launching December 1st called
which will deal with a lot of things GLBTQI/QUILTBAG, but mainly:
* what is genre in YA GLBTQ fiction
* what those books are
* tagging those books (not recommendations, just IDing them)
* creating booklists
* answering questions from the library community about GLBTQ/QUILTBAG concerns such as
– How can I create displays without people censoring the books?
– How can I get admin on my side?
– How can I get these books on the shelves?
– How do you booktalk the books?
It’ll launch December 1st, and some posts will be duplicated here and there, and a nice big graphic will go
on the homepage here at GLC that will link everything here into one place.

And finally:
I am pleased to announce the launch of
All throughout December I’m planning on focusing on techy things with a library viewpoint
(hence the TECH-cember). If everything goes as planned
(knock on wood and fingers crossed), I hope the schedule will go as follows:
* week of December 1: Wii U and Wii U games; how to run gaming tournaments
* week of December 7: XBOX ONE and XBOX ONE games; how to work with (and on) techphobic staff
* week of December 14: PS4 and PS4 games; how to deal with tech breakdowns in programs
* week of December 21: Pi programs that I’ve done, and what I’m hoping to do
* week of December 28: other tech stuff I have up my sleeve
Tons of exciting things are just around the corner, so stay tuned!
