I moved from the DFW Metroplex to Orange County, Florida last December, and one of the first things I did was get a library card. I cannot live without having a library and it makes me feel settled. Little did I know that the OCLS will deliver to your home your requests. This is something new to me as I didn’t have it at any library I belonged to in DFW; we had Texshare where you could borrow from a number of different member library systems across the state but you had to go there to pick up your books. I have to say that I am completely addicted to home delivery. They come in blue bags right to my door and *poof* books!
Here’s what I’m reading currently thanks to my addiction:
From publisher: A fantastic, fabulous, funny YA debut from Jeffery Self, one of the gay icons of the YouTube generation, that follows one high school student on a drag race to his future. Helen must make a choice: Save her reputation, or save the world. When she learns that demons have infiltrated 1800’s London society, will she have the strength to fight them and face her family’s legacy? In Kestrel’s world she has two choices, join the military or get married. However, she has other plans. When she buys a slave at auction, she’s relying on her instincts, but Arin is hiding secrets as well. Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined. Second in the series, Kestrel is planning her royal wedding yet still in love with Arin, who she saved by getting betrothed. Can she trust him again enough to let him in on her secrets or will trusting him get them both killed? With blackouts, the Son of Sam on the loose, and violence everywhere, is it even worth thinking about dating? Especially when all you want to do is turn 18 and move out of the house? From the publisher: Avery West’s newfound family can shut down Prada when they want to shop in peace, and can just as easily order a bombing when they want to start a war. Part of a powerful and dangerous secret society called the Circle, they believe Avery is the key to an ancient prophecy. Some want to use her as a pawn. Some want her dead. Second in the series. now her family is putting down roots in the big city, and Lois is determined to fit in. Stay quiet. Fly straight. As soon as she steps into her new high school, though, she can see it won’t be that easy. That’s how long it took for Avery West’s ordinary life to change forever. In two weeks, she discovered she was heiress to a powerful secret society known as the Circle, learned her mother was taken hostage by the Circle’s enemies, and fell for a boy she’s not allowed to love, just as she found out another was her unwelcome destiny. From the publisher: Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal—she’s half human, half fae, and since the time before she was born her very blood has been illegal. A war has been raging between humans and faeries, and the Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of the fae courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir due to the actions of reckless humans. Start of a series. The day that Louisiana teenager Rory Deveaux arrives in London to start a new life at boarding school is also the day a series of brutal murders breaks out over the city, killings mimicking the horrific Jack the Ripper spree of more than a century ago. Soon “Rippermania” takes hold of modern-day London, and the police are left with few leads and no witnesses. Except one. Rory spotted the man police believe to be the prime suspect.
