On Sunday, I published a post I had scheduled to go out a while ago telling about what I had planned for June. I still have all of it planned, and it IS on the way.
I live in the DFW area. That Guy, Willow, and I were in Florida the last two weeks of May, and drove out just as the first set of storms came through Texas. We weren’t in the state when it was hit with storm after storm, but we saw it on the local and national news even where we were, and we learned about it via tweets and updates from friends and heart-family back home.
We were extremely lucky. We originally had been scheduled to head back to TX days earlier for That Guy’s work, but circumstances resulted in our later return, and it’s a good thing. We would have been driving back in the last round of storms, which strung across the entire state. Our house only has minorish damage, while our neighbor is dealing with replacing electrical systems and carpeting- and all of ours is just from rain. The storms took out our internet set-up, including where The GLC queued posts were stored. We were extremely lucky.
The video below is what a local city area currently looks like:
…not to mention other areas even more devastated by the storms. There are still people missing, and thousands of families trying to put the pieces of their lives back together.
So if you get a chance, send out a thought or prayer for those dealing with the aftermath of the storms. They need it.
Thanks.
