October 12 – 18 is Teen Read Week @ Your Library and this year’s theme is Turn Dreams Into Reality. Dreams can take many forms, from careers and college aspirations to working on a neighborhood project to journal writing- the sky is the limit to what you can do with this year’s theme. However, this year TRW falls into my school district’s testing week, and I know my tweens and teens are not going to be up for anything other than vegging and social interaction. So, I’ve pulled together a “dreams/nightmares” movie list (it IS close to Halloween) that they can enjoy to while studying and relaxing, or if they just need a break.
Inception: Are you awake? Are you asleep? Which world is real?
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984): Did you know this was based on a series of stories out in LA?
The Matrix: Which pill would you take? The blue pill or the red one?
Vertigo: Do you know what’s really happening?
Dream a Little Dream: Which life would you prefer?
Flatliners: What’s waiting for you on the other side?
Alice in Wonderland (1951 or 1910): Curiouser and curiouser
The Wizard of Oz: There’s no place like home
Child’s Play: Another horror movie based on a voodoo curse
Oz the Great and Powerful: Be careful which witch you scorn
The Exorcist: based on the last true exorcism in the United States
